Heuer Carrera 2447 NST
The 60’s was an important time for motorsports. Many brands, including Rolex with the Daytona, tried to capitalize on this rising sport. Heuer created their Carrera line during this time and has become a highly iconic reference. Today the 60’s 2447, in particular, is revered as one of the sought-after chronograph designs in the wristwatch collecting community. So much so the design is still modeled in current day Tag Heuer Carrera releases.
The 2447 NST is identified by a black dial, white sub registers and tachymeter scale, the inverse panda look has become one of the most desirable Heuer Carreras ever produced. Operated by a Valjoux 72, it shares the same venerable movement (aside from a few minor modifications) used in the Rolex Daytona Paul Newman.
This particular example originally came from the distinguished Crosthwaite & Gavin collection and has resided in an independent collection for more than a decade since.
The inverse panda dial is in beautiful condition with bright white sub registers and minor luminous degradation at the 3 and 9 o’clock. Previously polished case, the case reference and serial are both legible. It is paired with an 18mm lug width leather strap and original Heuer Acierinox “Sun” buckle.
A truly beautiful design and close commonalities to the Rolex Daytona, this 2447 NST is a great alternative for someone looking for an iconic 60’s chronograph to add to their collection.
