Movado Ref 14865 Mono Pusher “NOS TROPICAL”

This watch packs a huge punch! I’m excited to offer this spectacular Movado ref 14865 mono pusher in NOS condition. Produced in circa 1940’s, the watch is housed in a 33mm waterproof Borgel AQVATIC case. Borgel’s fame as one of the industry’s pioneer waterproof casemakers supplied many manufacturers including Patek Philippe with their very first waterproof case, the ref 1463.

Operated by a very rare Cal 478 manual movement, the watch has a mono pusher that activates, stops and resets the center counter hand with a press of a button.

The dial and time capsule condition of this watch steals the show. It was discovered recently in an old Spanish watchmaker’s drawer, most likely resting there since new. Originally a silver dial, the warm Spanish climate has aged the dial to a striking and unique fiery sun-glow tone. The original radium luminous remains intact.

After almost 80 years, it is remarkable to find an example that’s not only in unworn condition but also in a most commanding patina. The original hangtag with its serial is preserved as well. For any preservation collector of early timepieces, this piece will be a highlight in their collection.
